A family story
It all begins with her.
Some memories return as a scent. For me, it is my grandmother Iole’s kitchen in the early morning, when the house was just waking and she was already cooking. Handmade pasta, vegetables from the garden, long tables surrounded by family: this was how she showed her love. By preparing something for others, by always finding room for one more.
Grandmother Iole was deeply rooted in this land. She knew its rhythms, tended her vegetable garden and brought each season’s harvest to the table. Welcoming people came naturally to her, through time, care and the simple pleasure of having us all close.
Masseria Iole grew from my wish to carry those gestures forward. I wanted to bring her home in the Neto Valley back to life and preserve what she had given me: a way of living, cooking and being together. In the rooms, hand-embroidered fabrics recall the household linens of an earlier time; antique hemp mats find a new purpose as bedcovers. Their threads hold memories that are once again part of daily life in this house.
Today, that same spirit of welcome runs through the whole project, from the Masseria to Il Carniere and our private experiences. It all begins with her, her love for Calabria and that scent I have never forgotten.

Where it all begins.
Everything begins in the Valle del Neto. Restoring our family home meant reconnecting with this countryside and opening it to those who wish to discover it through food, local flavours and time spent together.
Here, Calabria reveals itself in long strings of harvested chillies, the scent of the vegetable garden and the freshness of ingredients arriving in the kitchen. Simple, seasonal cooking that lets each ingredient speak and preserves the memory of family meals.
For us, welcoming guests means sharing all of this: a dinner, a celebration, a stay. Revealing the beauty of the Valle del Neto through the gestures that define us.

A table on the seafront.
On the Crotone seafront, Il Carniere was born from the call of the sea and a desire to bring the soul of Masseria Iole, in the Neto Valley, into the heart of the city. A vision of hospitality expressed through materials, light and the pleasure of feeling welcome.
Behind this vision is Pasquale, the owner, who has once again turned his passion for design into a deeply personal project, guiding it from its earliest beginnings. From selecting slabs of Orange travertine and black marble for the tables to choosing ash wood, the materials came first and inspired the design. Pasquale conceived the space and its bespoke furnishings, taking a direct part in their creation. Lanterns, chairs, benches and tables all express the same considered approach to welcoming guests.
The grain of the stone, the reflections of marble and the warmth of wood meet in soft light that traces each form and creates a sense of intimacy. The result is a warm minimalism of balanced proportions, tactile details and quiet, inviting spaces. A place to linger, with the familiar spirit of the masseria just steps from the sea.
